Our Story

Every congregation has a beginning…

During the summer of 2020, as the Covid-19 pandemic brought normal life to a halt, a group of families began meeting in person – outrageous! – at George M. Bush Park in Buckingham on Sunday mornings out of a conviction that members of the body of Christ need to be together. Some craved this real-life fellowship after frustration from online only church ministries, and other people sensed this was the beginning of a new church.

Services continued in the park – cheerfully through both bad weather and even volleyball tournaments happening right next to our pavilion – until the month of October. By this time around 40 people were in regular attendance, and we moved into the facilities of the Plumsteadville Grange building with lots of prayer and discussions about the possibility of this becoming a church plant.

At the Plumsteadville Grange:

Once indoors, we established more familiar patterns of church life with services that began on time, a more organized order of worship, the start of Sunday school for adults and children, and the introduction of more fellowship events. God brought some new people into our fellowship, and others sensed this was not the right fit. Thankfully, many were increasingly committed to seeing this become a new Gospel preaching church in Central Bucks.

Still lacking any attachment to an established church, the congregation of Park Church voted in April of 2021 to move forward with Presbyterian commitments of doctrine and to find the right Presbyterian body for our affiliation. In September 2021, Park Church was designated a mission work (i.e., church plant) of the Presbytery of Philadelphia in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC), finally giving us a standing as a ministry of the church.

What brought us together was a shared love for God’s word and a commitment to love one another as a fellowship of believers in the Doylestown area. If this story connects with you, we hope you will come join us for a Sunday morning.

Hebrews 10:24-25 - And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
